Before taking on the role of Lara Croft in the 2001 film Tomb Raider, Angelina Jolie was reportedly smoking up to two packs of cigarettes a day. This habit had a negative impact on her health, forcing her to make drastic lifestyle changes to meet the physical demands of the role.

During an interview at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on February 5, 2025, Jolie revealed that the intense training for the movie pushed her to quit smoking and adopt a healthier diet. She stated, “I had to completely change my health and lifestyle, discovering that I could do things I never thought I could.”

After completing the film, Jolie maintained her healthy habits and never returned to smoking. Today, she is a mother of six children and continues her work in acting and humanitarian efforts.
